Get Your Site to the Top of the Maps Listings
Pretty much every time a customer searches with local intent (i.e. with a location in it), they’ll see a maps section in the search results that looks a bit like the one below.
That means for the majority of Storage Businesses, the local listings are extremely important. If you want to get in front of your customers, it’s essential that you come up in the maps results.
Getting listed in the Maps listings depends on a few factors – some you can control (like your listing), others you can’t (like the searchers proximity to your location).
The first step is to make sure you have your business listings as useful and relevant as they can be. This means providing as much information as possible, implementing schema markup correctly and getting those reviews in.
In addition to this, search engines also look for consistency with what is commonly termed NAP – name, address and phone number.
The best way you can do this is by building citations on other sites across the web. These are mentions of your business on other websites, and are used by search engines to validate the accuracy of your listing.
If you have plenty of these to support your authenticity as a business, the search engines are more likely to trust that the information is factually accurate.
We often work with clients who struggle to rank because there’s literally no mention of them anywhere online apart from their website. Building citations on a regular basis can help increase and secure your ranking in the maps results.
When we work with clients we start out by carryng out a full audit of their listing, and citations across the web. Most of the time there’s a lot of areas to work on that client’s aren’t even aware of.
